• The Cast Show Off:
  • One episode had Lauren sing a jazz solo in a dream sequence. Her actress, Renee Olstead, is an accomplished jazz vocalist.
  • Averted with Kathy Halverson. She's played by Marin Mazzie, a Tony-winning Broadway actress who specializes in musical theatre, but she never sings.
• Fake American: The British Mark Addy as Bill. Also, Jennifer Irwin is Canadian.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Not a single season has been released on DVD or even digitally, and as of 2014, reruns no longer air (at least in America).
• The Other Darrin:
  • Judy and Linda's mother Helen was played by Janet Carroll in the first two seasons, then by Swoosie Kurtz in the latter two.
  • Chris was played by Sean Marquette in his first two appearances, then by Jared Hillman in his third appearance.
• Playing Against Type: John Marshall Jones as Bill's co-worker Mack. Jones is probably best known as TJ's level-headed and patient single dad Floyd on Smart Guy. By contrast, Mack is morally dubious, at times lecherous, and very happily without any kids of his own (as stated in "Still Single" and "Still the Boss").
• Vindicated by Reruns: Although it ran a respectable four seasons during its original run, it didn't leave a huge impression on the network. Shortly after its series finale, Lifetime added the show to its revamped lineup along with Reba, and both shows would see their fanbases grow exponentially as a result. Reruns would later become a staple on ABC Family from 2010 to 2014. Unfortunately, the show has largely faded into obscurity after the show was removed from ABC Family in 2014 (unlike Reba, which remained on the air for much longer and aired on multiple networks simultaneously at one point).
