Trivia / Sticky Fingers

  • False Credit: "Sway" and "Moonlight Mile" are credited like most of the band's songs to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards; Jagger actually wrote the songs with Mick Taylor, who was supposedly promised credit on the tracks but never received it, while Richards received credit despite only contributing backing vocals to the former and nothing at all to the latter. Taylor would continue to be denied songwriting credits for songs he helped write, which was a contributing factor to his departure from the band in 1974.
  • Rarely Performed Song: While "Brown Sugar" was the band's second most popular live track for years, they removed it from their setlists in 2019 due to renewed scrutiny towards its lyrics, which lasciviously depict an affair between an enslaved Black woman and her white master.
  • Referenced by...: Bruno Bucciarati's Stand in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind is named after the album. Taken one step further in that his Stand's ability to make zipper portals appear anywhere is a reference to the album cover's functional zipper.
    • Gotlib once spoofed the album cover
    • Beth Hart's "Sister Heroine", about the sister she lost to a drug overdose, is likely a shout-out to "Sister Morphine".
  • Throw It In!: The jam at the end of "Can You Hear Me Knocking?" was completely spontaneous.
