Trivia / Stereophonics

  • Black Sheep Hit: Their hit "Dakota" has a new wave flavour compared to anything that they have ever done.
  • One-Hit Wonder: While they were always huge in the native UK, in the US they're more remembered by the song "Dakota", which peaked at #34 on the Alternative Charts.
  • What Could Have Been: When the band first formed in 1992 they went by the name Tragic Love Company, derived from their favourite bands, The Tragically Hip, Mother Love Bone and Bad Company. Wayne Coleman, who helped organise some of their first concerts, disliked the name and suggested they change it. Drummer Stuart Cable found a gramophone manufactured by Falcon Stereophonic and the rest is history.
