Trivia / Stealth

Go To

  • Backed by the Pentagon: The film was made with the support of the US Navy.
  • Billing Displacement: Although Jamie Foxx filmed this before Ray, it was released afterwards, so American promotional materials gave him top billing even though he plays the third most important character.
  • Box Office Bomb: Produced on a budget of $135 million, Stealth only grossed $77 million worldwide. When coupled with the marketing, Sony wound up taking a loss of over $125 million, one of the worst financial losses in box office history.
  • Completely Different Title:
    • The Chinese release of this movie loosely translates to The Future of Machine Warfare.
    • Released in Turkey under the title The Invisible Warrior.
  • Creator Backlash: Jamie Foxx has openly said that he hates the movie, and that he felt relieved when doing promotions for the movie ended. In the bigger picture of his career, he refers to it as "A shitty movie I worked on for six weeks."
"I'm the guy who makes a couple of jokes and then I die. It's the classic Black role."
  • Distanced from Current Events: A scene showing a high rise building being destroyed in Myanmar was cut because it was deemed too similar looking to the 9/11 attacks.
  • Friendship on the Set: Jessica Biel met and befriended producer Michelle Purple on this film, and they eventually created their own production company Iron Ocean Films.
  • Star-Derailing Role: Managed to be this for ALL THREE of its leads. Josh Lucas and Jessica Biel's careers never recovered from this film bombing. Especially painful for Biel, this was supposed to be her big Blockbuster film after 7th Heaven. Jamie Foxx also took a hit, as this was his first film after his Oscar winning role in Ray, but his career would eventually recover with Django Unchained.
  • Viral Marketing: Shots of the life-size Talon props on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln were leaked with claims that they were taken by a crew member and showed a new US fighter prototype. Of course, the shots were all in perfect focus and showed the pilots were Hollywood actors, but some people were still taken in.
  • What Could Have Been: According to IMDB, the film was originally written and conceived as a live-action adaptation of Star Fox.
