- Completely Different Title: In Japanese, it becomes Jiyuu no Megami (The Goddess of Liberty), which is also a shared name in other East Asian translations.
- What Could Have Been: In the late 1860s, Bartholdi proposed a similar idea for a statue at the entryway of the Suez Canal, depicting an Egyptian woman bearing a torch much like how the Statue of Liberty does.
