• Real Life Writes the Plot: The titular summit. At this point in SG-1, nearly all of the recurring Goa'uld who had been built up over the Showtime years had been bumped off (the only ones still standing as of this episode were Zipacna, Osiris, Yu, and Nirrti). Joseph Mallozzi's confirmed the summit was thus, in part, "Goa'uld tryouts" to introduce multiple new System Lords and see if any of them stood out. Cliff Simon's Ba'al made the cut, they brought him back for "Abyss" the following season, and the rest is history.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Martouf was originally meant to appear in this episode (having survived the events of "Divide and Conquer"). However, J. R. Bourne had a scheduling conflict, which left Lantash in need of a new host.
  • Had the producers been able to reach an agreement with Peter Wingfield, Tanith would almost certainly have appeared in the role ultimately played by Zipacna.
