- Awesome, Dear Boy: Kate Mulgrew absolutely loved doing this episode. You can tell.
- Corpsing: Chakotay — possibly Robert Beltran himself — has a hard time not cracking up when Tom explains the Death Ray. Janeway — possibly Kate Mulgrew herself — also fails to keep a straight face during Tom's lectures. Jeri Ryan cracks slightly when she sees Beltran has done the same, but she's blocked from the camera by Tuvok.
- Prop Recycling: The throne chair that Minister Odala was sitting on in "Distant Origin" is reused as Doctor Chaotica's throne. It was originally created for the Coneheads movie.
- Serendipity Writes the Plot: The set of the bridge was damaged after a fire, so while it was repaired, they quickly assembled a script that allowed most of the action to take place away from the bridge.
- Throw It In!: Garrett Wang improvised the Smoking Barrel Blowout he performs with his Ray Gun (according to him on The Delta Flyers podcast).
