• What Could Have Been:
  • Most of the early scripts for the story ended with Tuvix willingly performing a Heroic Sacrifice so as to allow Tuvok and Neelix to be restored to life. Executive producer Michael Piller thought this too neatly side-stepped the moral dilemma, however, and changed it to the ending that we got.
  • Initially, Ethan Phillips was supposed to play Tuvix before it was decided to cast a completely different actor, with director Cliff Bole saying "Ethan is so identifiable. He might have had a problem trying to give Tuvix the elements of Tuvok's character."
