• Wag the Director: Tim Russ didn't feel the original script meshed with his conception of Tuvok, so he got the writers to change approximately 30% of the script and wished he had changed even more. He wanted to make it more clear that Tuvok felt he was saving Janeway from an impending mutiny.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The Sikarians were originally conceived as being a third Delta Quadrant antagonist for Voyager to struggle against. Their space folding technology gives them the ability to show up virtually anywhere, and the ship leaves their planet on poor terms. However, this is their only appearance in the show. They do get a brief mention in Star Trek: Picard.
  • The original story pitch was that Voyager would encounter the species who sent Gary Seven to Earth via a long range transporter. However an intervention in the affairs of another 'primitive' world had gone disastrously wrong, causing them to adopt their own Prime Directive that prevented them helping Voyager.
