Trivia / Star Trek The Next Generation S 7 E 11 The Pegasus

Go To

  • Prop Recycling: The USS Pegasus is a reuse of the Oberth-class USS Grissom model from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
  • Underage Casting: Terry O'Quinn is only a month older than Jonathan Frakes, even though Pressman should be at least 15-20 years older than Riker.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The originally-scripted ending had Riker given a 30-day prison sentence for his actions in the Pegasus affair, as well as a formal reprimand that would all but ensure he would never progress past his current rank (presumably so they didn't keep having to make him turn down promotions). This was deleted from the finished episode, where Riker escapes any formal punishment and Picard indicates it'll likely be no more than a mild, temporary setback to his career.
    • If you look carefully at the LCARS display on the Engineering section aboard the Pegasus, it would appear that the ship was not supposed to be an Oberth class ship, but rather a Cheyenne class ship, never seen before in Star Trek television, and never seen again sincenote . Simply put, it was a Galaxy class saucer with a secondary hull containing 4 warp nacelles. Production deemed it too expensive to create a new ship, let alone one that had to be encased in solid rock, so the Oberth was brought in as a replacement.
    • Another option for the Pegasus design was a kit bash of Ambassador-class (aka Enterprise-C) parts that would've ended up looking like a chunkier version of the Cerritos, amusingly enough.
