Trivia / Star Trek: The Next Generation S4E3 "Brothers"

Go To

  • Acting for Two: For three, actually—Brent Spiner plays Data, Lore and Dr. Soong. According to him, playing three characters was tough because he would hear lines as Dr. Soong that he had not spoken yet as Data or Lore and had to mentally focus on who he was playing at what particular time.
  • Blooper: What appears on the computer screen when Data dictates his insanely complicated lockout code is not the same as Data's spoken words.
  • Creator's Favorite Episode: This is one of Rick Berman's favorite episodes.
  • Prop Recycling: In a re-use of prop lighting, Dr. Soong turns out to have the exact same model of wall fixture as Kivas Fajo had in his gallery room in "The Most Toys". The design apparently uses dichroic filters, as we see two pairs of colors and their complements being produced from the upward pointing white light source.
  • What Could Have Been: Keye Luke was considered for the role of Soong. But he had retired from acting due to declining health, being age 87 at the time. Luke was known in Star Trek from having previously portrayed Dr. Donald Cory in the Original Series episode Whom Gods Destroy. Keye Luke passed away only two months after the episode Brothers was made.
