• What Could Have Been: According to Swallow, the initial idea for The Dark Veil was to do a Seven of Nine-centric novel that would bridge the ending of Voyager and her reappearance in Picard. He and Kirsten Beyer developed the idea, but Beyer ultimately axed it. Given the rich potential of that particular story, Beyer felt there was a good chance the show would tackle it instead and Swallow agreed. By the time the show ended and permission was given for that Seven interquel, David Mack instead got custodianship of what became Star Trek: Picard - Firewall.
  • Swallow also revealed Plan B was nearly a Worf-centric novel that would've run concurrently with The Last Best Hope and chronicled his inheriting the Enterprise-E captaincy from Picard after his promotion. Swallow admits that was tempting, but the chance to come back and do one more Titan novel was too good to pass up.
