• Throw It In!: The scene between Sisko and Admiral Ross before leaving for battle was added at the last minute, as it was realized that the episode was running short. It's quite effective, as it provides a wonderful character moment for Sisko and sets up his post-war plans. He actually does get around to designing his house next season.
• What Could Have Been: During its initial development, "Favor the Bold" was intended to be the concluding installment of Season Six's multi-episode Dominion War arc. However, Ira Behr and Hans Beimler quickly realized there was simply too much narrative material to compress into a single 44-minute episode. Thus, they decided to instead split the arc finale into a two-parter.
