- Actor Allusion:
- Katashiro smokes, has an eyepatch and brown hair... sounds like a fusion of two roles Shin-ichiro Miki played a while ago. In fact, when we see his younger self in episode 20, even accounting for art style differences, he looked exactly like Lockon.
- Takuto and his childhood friend Natsuo are voiced by Mamoru Miyano and Miyu Irino respectively. This is not the first time they have been together.
- Anime First: A manga adaptation was released before the anime aired, but it was mainly to promote the anime, which is the main part of the project.
- Franchise Killer: The movie, while advertised as a Compilation Movie, got loads of promotion that promised new material, with tons of coverage on what would be a new chapter in the universe and promotional art featuring the characters in new outfits (including Wako and Sugata dressed as Galactic Bishonen). What was delivered was three minutes of new footage taking place after the original series, followed by said compilation movie...and only the compilation movie, with no other new footage. Even worse, this film came out on the heels of Gurren Lagann's second compilation movie, which was almost entirely new footage. To say that fanfare for Star Driver died down quickly after the release of the movie would be an understatement.
