Trivia / Spicks and Specks

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: The ABC loves showing off Spicks and Specks repeats on their second channel (aka ABC TV Plus, formerly ABC Comedy and ABC2), as it's almost always the first program shown after ABC Kids goes off the air for the night. Lampshaded by Adam when the show was revived.
Adam: I can’t believe it’s been seven years since our last show. And fifteen minutes since it was last shown on ABC Comedy.
  • Follow the Leader: Comparisons to Never Mind the Buzzcocks are often made; however, the tone of the shows are quite different — Buzzcocks spends lots of time making fun of everyone, while Spicks and Specks focuses more on the music. Bill Bailey was startled by how much nicer everyone was on Spicks and Specks.
  • Long Runner: The show has been running on and off close to two decades. In fact, it's been running long enough that some of the guests on recent episodes actually grew up watching the show and emulating games like Substitute.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: ABC has not made the classic run permanently available to stream, so unless they decide to put some old episodes on their iView platform for a while, the best way to watch pre-2018 episodes is via YouTube and Dailymotion. Fortunately ABC has not attempted to block these uploads and, being a publicly funded broadcaster, are not likely to start doing so. Even so, some episodes have not been uploaded on either site. One example is the Doc Neeson episode, of which only a heavily edited compilation survives on YouTube.
