Trivia / Speak Now

Go To

  • Based on a Dream: The Title Track was inspired by a dream Taylor had where she watched an ex-boyfriend marrying another girl.
  • Creator Backlash: Taylor admits to cringing at some of the lyrics on "Better Than Revenge", including both the general idea of the whole song being about "stealing" a person's boyfriend and the part where she slut-shames her ex's new girlfriend. She chalks this up to immaturity, stating that she now realizes that you can't "steal" someone's partner if they didn't already want to leave. The "Taylor's Version" preserves the song's main idea, but it replaces the slut-shaming lyrics.
  • Hitless Hit Album: While Speak Now made the incredible feat of selling over a million copies in first week, it didn't spawn immortal hits at the level of its direct predecessor and eventual successors. Although its singles charted well and would've been considered huge for any other artist (“Mine” and “Mean” went triple platinum in the US), we're talking about Taylor freaking Swift. Nowadays, the album is arguably remembered for itself, rather than any hit songs.
  • No Stunt Double: Taylor Lautner did the fight scene in the music video for “I Can See You” without a stunt double.
