Trivia / Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit)

• First Appearance: While not considered to be his official debut (and is not recognized as such by Sega), this game is technically the first appearance of Tails, as the Master System version was released in Europe and South America on October 15, 1992, less than a month before the release of the Genesis version.
• Late Export for You: The Master System version wouldn't see a proper release in North America and Japan til 16 years later through the Wii Virtual Console.
• Refitted for Sequel: The idea of Sonic being able to skip across water to access a different path in the 8-bit version was an idea originally intended to be in the 16-bit version of the first game.◊
• What Could Have Been: A leaked AutoDemo build includes a music track not seen in the final. Additionally, Green Hills had white dirt and Underground looked incredibly different.
