- Development Gag: The fact that the sea can be seen in the outdoor sections of Sunrise Gate Act 2 is a nod to Sonic Overture being meant to have a Mirror Mode that would've had scenery framed from the opposite direction, showing the island's shoreline in that instance.
- Prop Recycling: In this fangame, the soundtracks of the original fangames are pulled forward for reuse here as a homage to their legacy.
- What Could Have Been: While Legends was originally built off Mania, Sunset Shore Zone from Sonic Nexus was originally intended to be the first level, before getting replaced with Overture's Sunrise Gate Zone. The level itself did make it into a standalone Sonic Mania mod, though, dubbed True Sunset Shore
