• Actor-Shared Background: In "Matt" Jess McLeod plays professional swimmer Jewel. McLeod got to top levels in swimming competitions when they were young before taking up acting full time.
• Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Dolly Lewis said in a Vancouver Sun interview that she has severe night blindness and detached retinas, which played a role in being considered for the role of Tess as both she and her character worry about how they can navigate everyday with eyesight problems. Her condition is less severe but very similar to Tess's.
