• Disowned Adaptation: Though mostly positive about the tv adaptation, Bernard Cornwell disliked how this adaptation was In Name Only stating,
  I was quite ready for any changes they [the tv writers] made, except to Sharpe's Gold, which left me gobsmacked'.
• The Other Marty: According to Jason Salkey, who played Rifleman Harris, the episode was originally cast with different actors, and had to be re-scripted to avoid paying this original cast as well. This is one reason it differs greatly from the book, and is not thought highly of by Sean Bean.
