- Hide Your Pregnancy: Jeri Ryan was expecting when season two began so it becomes clearer midway through how many close-ups there are of Jessica from the waist up and her behind furniture. As it happened, the four-month delay due to the 2007-08 writer's strike was a break for the show as when new episodes returned, Ryan had given birth so Jessica was explained as being out of town to care for her sick father. Ryan returned for the second (and series) finale.
- Playing Against Type: Comedian Kevin Pollak as the cold and calculating D.A. Leo Cutler, a recurring character in the second season.
- Romance on the Set: Between James Woods (then 61) and Danielle Panabaker (then 20). The two dated for a few months before separating.
- Screwed by the Network: The first season was a big hit on Thursday nights, thanks to having CSI as a lead-in. In season 2, CBS moved it to Sundays where it had to go against ABC's hit Brothers & Sisters and ratings slumped majorly. This coincided with the show being forced to "lighten up" for its new night, robbing it of some of the edge that had helped it win over viewers. The 2007 Writers Strike didn't help matters by cutting the second season down to 16 episodes but CBS chose to air the final four very late in April and early May to naturally low ratings and then axed the show when producers had expected a renewal.
