- Creator Backlash: Subverted with Lloyd Kaufman who does not dislike the movie and does speak well of it. However the backlash comes from admitting he should have listen more to Namco suggestions instead of trying to do the usual Troma style movie. He admits the movie feels tonally all over the place due to trying to be both a Troma movie while at the same time still trying to be more mainstream friendly movie.
- Schedule Slip: The movie was produced and completely filmed in 1990, though it took six years for the film to actually release (allegedly due to Kaufman and the creators waiting until they could exhibit a PG-13 cut).
- Troubled Production: Creative Differences between Troma and Namco over the violence in the film plagued the production process, which eventually led the film to be released in a PG-13 cut for theatres. An unrated version was later included in subsequent DVD releases.
- What Could Have Been:
- The movie was supposed to get an Animated Adaptation aimed at children. All that exists is the promo here.
- The Anti-Climax Boss battle was originally supposed to be a big action scene, but the Evil One costume wasn't designed for anything beyond looking cool and thus the actor couldn't do anything other than stand there menacingly.
- A proposed sequel, Sgt. Kabukiman and the Lesbians of Bonejack High, has been in Development Hell for many years, but has never entered production.
