- Creator Backlash:
- Croteam was not happy with how II turned out, mainly due to 2K Games's Executive Meddling.
- Additionally, they were also very dissatisfied with the redesign of the Beheaded kamikaze, and have even stated they will never use that design in any future Serious Sam games.
- Dummied Out:
- The Laser Turret is seen during one of the cutscenes. It didn't make it into the game.
- A Gnaar Voodoo Doll graphic would be seen in the same game as well, right as soon as you explore its .gro files.
- Executive Meddling: The game suffered from this according to comments from Croteam employees. 2K Games insisted on a tight development schedule, a Lighter and Softer tone and cartoon-like art style, and prohibited the development team from speaking about the game outside officially sanctioned events. When the game received a mixed reception from fans, Croteam split from 2K and disowned the final product.
- Refitted for Sequel:
- The v2.90 patch restores a cut weapon from the game (the Beam Gun) as well as salvaging some of the scrapped maps.
- The "Dual Weapons" option was meant to be a power-up called "Combo Weapons" before it was scrapped. It was reimplemented in the 2021 update.
- What Could Have Been:
- Croteam was planning to remake II to keep it on par with the rest of the series, but the idea was shelved.
- Another power-up called "Serious Disco" ended up being cut from the final game. It was meant to cause all the enemies in the area to dance, leaving them vulnerable.
- One of the planets cut from the final game is Pechina, a desert planet with a military base. It would end up being split into Kronor and Sirius, only without the desert theme.
