  • Ability over Appearance: Tim Roth doesn't look a thing like the real George Wallace but his performance was widely acclaimed all the same.
  • Approval of God: Despite some discrepancies, John Lewis was supposedly very pleased with the film's final result. Supposedly, he was very impressed by Oyelowo's performance and was even reduced to tears while watching one of his speeches.
  • Completely Different Title: In Japan, this film is known as グローリー/明日への行進 (Glory/The March Towards Tomorrow).
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Oyelowo gained 30 pounds to mimic King's physique.
  • Fake American: Brits David Oyelowo, Tom Wilkinson, Carmen Ejogo and Tim Roth play Americans.
  • Role Reprise: Carmen Ejogo had previously played Coretta Scott King in the made-for-HBO movie Boycott, released in 2001.
  • What Could Have Been: Lee Daniels was originally set to direct the film, with a cast that included Liam Neeson as Lyndon Johnson, Robert De Niro as George Wallace, Hugh Jackman as Sherriff Jim Clark, and Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph Abernathy. After the project fell through, David Oyelowo recommended Ava DuVernay (who he had previously worked with on Middle Of Nowhere) as a replacement.
