Trivia / Scream: Curse of Carnage

  • Cancellation: Scream: Curse of Carnage was unceremoniously cancelled after only six issues — one issue into its second arc, "Suffer the Children" — due to low sales relating to the COVID-19 pandemic halting the distribution of physical issues.
  • Creator Backlash: While he acknowledges Clay McLeod Chapman is a talented writer, Andi Benton's co-creator Cullen Bunn has repeatedly stated he has no intention of reading Scream: Curse of Carnage — largely because he'd been the one who'd pitched the series to Marvel, only for them to take it and give it to Chapman.
  • Teasing Creator:
    • The first few solicitations are deliberately vague as to who, if anyone, is wearing the Scream symbiote. This has the benefit of not spoiling the Absolute Carnage: Scream miniseries.
    • When asked if he had intended to reveal that Andi was a lesbian or bisexual, Clay McLeod Chapman teasingly responded with a video clip of a woman coyly repeating "I'll never tell..."
  • What Could Have Been: Andi Benton's co-creator, Cullen Bunn, had expressed interest in continuing Andi's story after bringing her back for Web of Venom: Funeral Pyre and Absolute Carnage: Scream, but severed his working relationship with Marvel not long after. In 2020, Bunn indicated that he had been the one who had conceptualized Scream: Curse of Carnage, but that while Marvel had greenlit the pitch they had passed him over for Clay McLeod Chapman — which he later confirmed was what happened in 2023.
