- Dueling Shows: The BBC had various tries at creating a rival programme, none particularly successful. One of these, Geronimo, was also hosted by Dick Strawbridge.
- Referenced by...: Unreal Tournament 2004 features a map whose backstory has two teams competing on creating a vehicle to escape from a junkyard, much like the basis of both the UK and US series.
- Screwed by the Network: Challenge acquired the rights to air the series in 2022. They first aired the show in October on in a afternoon (3pm) & daytime slot (10am) with weekend repeats (9am Saturday & 5pm Sunday) , but for whatever reason, the weekday airings were moved to the graveyard slot (4am) after six weeks before being removed at the end of December. The Weekend airings stayed for another three weeks, and currently, the show only airs on Sunday mornings likely to burn off episodes.
- What Could Have Been: In an interview with Car And Driver, Jesse James (future host of Monster Garage) revealed he was supposed to be a contestant on the show. He backed out when he discovered he'd be wearing a colorful jumpsuit.
