  • Acting for Two: Gerd Schaefer played both Heinz Pasulke and his cousin Tschulonga Pasulke.
  • Amateur Cast: Except for the adult characters. For many of the child actors, this is their first role in a major production.
  • Contest Winner Cameo: Linda Schlabowski won a role as an extra in a game show. She would later become part of the main cast as Leni Freytag.
  • Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Arian Schill, who played Kathi's brother Arne, has a prohestic leg, just like his character.
  • Enforced Method Acting: During the kiss scene between Noah and Colin in season 26, director Severin Lohmer told Colin's actor Johannes Degen to skip the last few lines of dialog before the kiss to get a genuine surprised reaction from Noah's actor Philip Rüger.
  • Fake American: Joanna, Mary and Liz. When they speak English, you can tell it's not the actors' native language.
  • Fake Nationality:
    • German-Russian Wasilij Eichler and Georgian Nini Tsiklauri as the Iranian siblings Mounir and Layla Farsad
    • German Julia Nürnberger as Bosnian Milena Ibrahimovic
    • German Lennart König and Edzard Ehrle as the Hungarian friends Sándor Laszlo and Tamas Nagy
    • German-Cuban Johna Fontaine as Greek Daphne Leandros
  • Friendship on the Set: Especially among the child actors. They often post pictures of them hanging out together on social media and some of them describe the cast as "a big family".
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only five seasons received a DVD release and streaming services don't have all 26 seasons either.
  • Loads and Loads of Writers: Over 50 of them.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Franziska Bauer was played by Ronja Prinz (who would later get recast to play Tessa Rindfleisch) for one episode

  • Real-Life Relative: Mrs. Levin's baby is played by Janina Elkins's real daughter.
  • Throw It In!:
    • The scene in episode 1026 where Colin wants to introduce himself to his new roommates and almost knocks over a lamp wasn't in the script. It happened during a rehearsal and the director liked it so much is was kept for subsequent rehearsals and the final product.
    • Annika and Nesrin's iconic Nesrika move was improvised by their actors between scenes. The director saw them doing it and decided to incorporate it into the show.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • One initial proposal for the series was a weekly soap about children in a boarding school for figure skaters called "Sprung ins Leben" (Jump into life).
    • David Groth was supposed to be the first gay male student character, but it was changed during the casting process.
  • You Look Familiar: Several actors who would later become part of the main cast started out as extras.
