Trivia / SCANDAL (Japanese Band)

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit:
    • "Namida no Regret", the band's first ballad and significantly slower and less upbeat than their other singles, peaked at #14 on the Oricon charts.
    • "Love Me Do" is not a cover of The Beatles song of the same name. Tomomi can be seen playing a violin-shaped bass in the PV, though.
  • Long Runner: In August 2023 on a day that was also simultaneously Rina's birthday, SCANDAL was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest running all-female band without a lineup change or hiatus. They successfully avoided what's known as the 7 year curse by fans of Korean and Japanese music scenes albeit for different reasons (Most Korean acts break around the 7 year mark due to drifting apart over time over individual careers that start emerging while waiting for a group comeback, whereas with Japanese acts many individuals often come together expecting to only be in a temporary project so they're lucky to even reach 7 years).
  • Paying Their Dues: Before getting known, the girls used to play at Shiroten, a weekly event at the Osaka Castle grounds. Initially, nobody came to watch them. Here's the band in those days but with a bit of an audience.
  • She Also Did: In 2012, Rina played drums on song "Halloween Party" by Halloween Junky Orchestra, a one-off large Supergroup founded by Hyde and K.A.Z. of Vamps. She also appeared in the music video.
  • Rags to Riches: In the September 2022 interview with JRock News, when asked about her "Make A Wish Daisy" project Rina mentioned that she grew up in a struggling single-mother family with 5 siblings. As one of Japan's top music acts for the past 16 years and capable of selling out stadiums, she's well past those tough early days.
