- Young Bennett was originally designed with Youthful Freckles. He also had lighter skin than in the final product. Other early concepts considered such accessories as goggles, labcoats, overalls, and Anime Hair.
- Old Bennett's model was originally designed with darker hair (closer in color to his younger self) and lighter skin. And while most of his early designs are overall consistent with the final concept, a few did consider switching out the character's spectacles for tiny shades. Some however gave him more of a Mad Scientist look with crazier hair, large goggles, and jowls in place of facial hair.
- Bennett's dad, Mark, went through some considerations for removing the glasses and giving him a goatee.
