Trivia / Sabrina and The Groovie Goolies

Go To

  • Breakaway Pop Hit: One of the Groovie Goolies song portions contains the song "Chick-A-Boom (Don't Ya Jes' Love It)". A re-recorded version of it, by show's producer Dick Monda, under the name "Daddy Dewdrop", would reach number nine on the Billboard charts.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Hagatha is voiced by Larry Storch in most of her appearances, and by Howard Morris in a few others.
  • No Export for You: The Sabrina portion of this Saturday-morning cartoon is this to countries outside of the United States, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Italy, Poland, France, Germany, Latin America and New Zealand, despite being the first Magical Girl cartoon to be produced in America. Yes, fans of the Sabrina comic book who live in Australia, Ireland or the United Kingdom and were born in the 1960s would not be able to get the series (not even all on television) and there was no medium available to watch the series in these countries.
    • Finally, this began to be averted in The New '10s, as the series became available on DVD in the United Kingdom.
    • The Groovie Goolies portion averts NEFY, as the series was broadcast in more than 100 countries.
  • What Could Have Been: Filmation wanted to produce a Groovie Goolies feature film in 1978, but plans fell through.
