Trivia / STU48

Go To

  • Breakthrough Hit: 2022's "Hana wa Dare no Mono?", partly because it's often misheard as wishing for a world without Tokyo instead of borders (kokkyo), and also because of its timely anti-war message. Thanks to this, the group was invited to perform on prime-time shows such as Music Blood and Music Station for the first time. They, represented by Ishida Chiho in a solo performance, also became the first 48 group to appear on the YouTube channel The First Take, which is run by Sony Music and rarely features artists not under that label.
  • The Cast Showoff: Takino Yumiko often plays the sax in her appearances. Mishima Haruka, who aspired to be a police officer, also often shows off her martial arts prowess.
    • All five members of Aoi Himawari play their own instruments.
  • Development Hell: Their first two singles were met with delays (to be fair, the second was delayed due to the 2018 Japan floods). Even worse for their shipboard theater, which was hyped since the group's first announcement in October 2016 but would only be finally launched in spring 2019... and retired in spring 2021. It wasn't even used much in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • Fan Community Nickname: Fanbases of several members have their own names.
    • Kadowaki Miyuna: Onion Corp
    • Shinano Soraha: Sora-ha (Sky Faction)
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content:
    • The ship's name was decided by fan submission. 2000 name candidates were received, from which 24 names were selected by the members, and finally the fans voted for STU48-go through SHOWROOM.
    • The sixth single would include a "Setouchi PR" unit which members were voted by fans. From the 7th to 1st places: Iwata Hina, Fukuda Akari, Yabushita Fu, Takino Yumiko, Oki Yuka, Ishida Chiho, and Kadowaki Miyuna as center.
  • Promoted Fanboy: For example, HKT48 fans include Tanaka Kouko (Matsuoka Natsumi supporter) and Takao Sayaka (Murashige Anna supporter).
  • Throw It In!: An accidental (in more than one sense) highlight in the "Kaze wo Matsu" MV is when Okada Nana tripped near the end of the second chorus. The MV is a continuous take video and they recorded ten versions, but evidently this is the best one.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Iwata Hina has auditioned multiple times to AKB48, HKT48, and several other groups before admitted into this one. She even briefly appeared in AKBingo! as an AKB draftee candidate.
    • Torobu Yuri also auditioned multiple times before accepted into STU.
    • Sakaki Miyu is a Hello! Project fan and had wanted to join them for a long time. Many of her fans from her old YouTube channel were surprised that she finally joined a 48 group instead.
