Trivia / SMG4 Movie: It's Gotta Be Perfect

Go To

  • Reality Subtext:
    • SMG4's mindset in this movie and the episodes leading up to it are disturbingly similar to this video from April 2020, where at the very beginning Luke goes into a short-lived Mood Whiplash that was played as humor at the time but definitely isn't funny now…
Luke: "Do you want to be stuck in a neverending cycle of weekly content creation that constantly demands creative ideas from you to feed the millions of hungry viewers needing entertainment and that they are constantly judging every single move you do and one wrong misstep or unfunny video could completely cost your channel and your only reason to live?"
    • 2022 saw a sharp increase in criticism and outright hate comments towards the channel from various parts of the fandom, most notoriously the official subreddit which had morphed into a central clearinghouse for hate. Suddenly, SMG4 being shown as incredibly self-conscious, self-hating, and determined to make a video everyone will love makes a lot of sense.
    • When the video is finished, SMG3 scolds SMG4 for ordering from "sus websites", saying that it's why he was hacked a few months prior. This line makes a lot more sense when one recalls SMG4's Twitter was hacked in late 2022.
  • Uncredited Role:
    • For some reason, Elsie Lovelock is not credited for voicing Meggy in this movie, even though she was credited in the previous week's episode, "Mar10 Day", and the following Meggy episode, "A Happy Little Road Trip". She was also uncredited for her lines during the 99-hour livestream and "Announcement…", but those two videos had no credits at all.
    • Luke, Kevin, and James are not credited for voicing SMG4, Boopkins, and SMG3 respectively, but this is normal since they're all Glitch staffers and have production credits.
  • Word of God: Luke made it very clear that this movie and the 4-5 episodes leading up to it were not part of an "arc", but rather an intentional setup for a change in the show's direction.
