• Troubled Production: Murphy went through a troubled period around 2017-18. Around this period, he had his plate full with American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Feud, 9-1-1, and Pose. Murphy has admitted to suffering from writer's block, some of his shows have had extended breaks between seasons, and there have been other problems as well. The second season of American Crime Story was supposed to focus on Hurricane Katrina, but he struggled to work on the project and it was replaced with a season about the manhunt for Andrew Cunanan. Murphy also changed the source material for the Katrina story, leading to casting turnover. Furthermore, he had also started conceptualizing a season about the Monica Lewinsky scandal, which ended up airing as the third season. Meanwhile, the second season of Feud was supposed to focus on the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana, but Murphy ended up scrapping this as well, and the series was on hiatus until 2024, when a season about Truman Capote was released.
