- Promoted Fanboy: Jason Miller was a football player in high school and lifelong fan of Notre Dame football, and was even known to end his conversations with "go Irish" instead of "goodbye." Here, he plays Ara Parseghian, widely recognized as one of the team's greatest head coaches.
- Disowned Adaptation:
- While Dan Devine gave the creators permission to play him as "the heavy", he was angry at just how far they took it. He was particularly incensed about the jersey scene and claimed that if it really happened he would have kicked the players off the team.
- Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, who was a freshman on the team during Rudy's final year, dismissed the movie for the Artistic License the creators took to dramatize Rudy's story.
