• Acting for Two: Lampshaded with the line "Listeners may have gathered from this sickening dialogue that Kenneth Williams is playing both parts."
• Died During Production: Kenneth Horne's unexpected death put an end to the series.
• Cross-Dressing Voices: Hugh Paddick as Madame Osiris Nomeclencher.
• Executive Meddling: One of the vanishingly rare instances of benevolent meddling. When the Moral Guardians came after the show, the Beeb agreed to screen the show for indecent content. They sent a note to the writers saying "we see nothing that needs changing."
• Throw It In!: Usually subverted, most of Kenneth Williams 'Rants' were written by the writers.^note Although Kenny's later radio career involved getting far too competitive on the game show Just a Minute where he made some memorably unscripted, funny, long, rants - with just an edge of embittered resentful anger to them. This holds up the possibility that some earlier ranting on RTH might have also been ad-libbed around the script.
• Queer Character, Queer Actor: Gay couple Julian and Sandy were respectively played by Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams, both of whom were gay in real life, with the latter also describing himself as asexual.
