- What Could Have Been:
- Rosita was originally an adaptation of the book Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall but the director backed out. It was than an adaptation of Faust: First Part of the Tragedy but Pickford's mother disliked the baby killing scene (a separate Faust film would later be made in 1926). In the end, they went with a French play. Pickford ended up doing Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall in 1924.
- Mary Pickford had wanted Ramón Novarro to co-star opposite her as Don Diego. Navarro's mentor reminded him that Pickford had once critiqued his looks, so he rejected the offer. As a result George Walsh was cast instead.
