Trivia / Robot Holocaust

Go To

  • Author Appeal: Director, Kim Kinkaid, regularly creates gay porn under the moniker "Joe Gage". This likely explains the long, boring, cinematic-padding of the big hunky scantly-clad guys with the meaty bubble-butts wrestling at the film's start.
  • Covers Always Lie: The movie poster (see main page for this entry). The worms are nowhere that huge (and they're slimy pink hand puppets coming out of a wall), there was more than three people in the group, the good robot was a dork and none of the other bots on the poster exist in the movie.
  • Special Effects Failure: Gee! Where to start?! The legions of "Guard Bots" are played by two guys, the "Power Station" is an incredibly shoddy matte painting or giant cut-out, most of the skeletons are fakey, most of the gore effects are fakey, the fighting choreography is poorly done, the "Sewer Worms" look like buck-toothed arm-length sock-puppets (though on closer-inspection, they're actually rubbery & slimy with little bumps...but they're still cheesy), the "Beast of the Web" is just a fuzzy puppet spider leg on a string & the mutants are mostly people wearing Halloween masks & makeup from Spencer's or a retail store.
  • The scenes in the Power Station were actually filmed at the old Brooklyn Naval Yard (and not a Junior High School basement as assumed).
