Trivia / Real Life Comics

  • Creator Breakdown: A very minor version; when Mae's relationships with Crystal and Lizzie ended, she didn't do comics for a week, simply putting up a note saying that she didn't feel much like being funny at the moment. Of course, she got over it, and now that she's married it probably won't happen again (Unless, God forbid, she gets a divorce).
    • When the comic returned in 2018, Mae revealed that she had gone through a massive version of this, including depression, sleep apnea, and fatigue, which lead to the series being orphaned for almost three years.
  • Schedule Slip: The comic will slip up on occasion, but it's usually pretty good about staying on schedule.
    • Lampshaded periodically—like here, along with a side helping of Webcomic Time.
    • It got worse in 2015, which saw only 10 strips since August, most of which were published in a week-long burst, but as Mae pointed out, she has a regular job, along with (most importantly) a toddler to raise.
    • In August 15, 2018, Mae announced a return to the series on the official Facebook page with strips already in the works to be released shortly after, which it started doing on September 10th. The comic updated nicely, with a few off days here and there, until March 2019, became irregular in April, and finally all but stopped again, with only two updates in May, four in June, and two in July.
    • The next return was in June of 2020, where Maelyn finished the arc left hanging from the last year, before announcing a three-week storyline regarding her coming out as trans, which she had been working on for the intervening year.
    • Several brief breaks have happened between 2020 and 2022 due to both workload issues, and having a second child, these didn't last more than a month.
    • The next long hiatus was between 2022 and early 2024 due to workload, financial problems, childcare needs and the artist's "mental health going sploosh" as she put it in her commentary section on her return comic.
