  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: For the longest time, copies of the Sega Saturn port went for as high as $200 USD on online shops. It was rescued in 2011 with a HD version released on Xbox 360 through Xbox Live for $14.99. The HD version has since been approved for backwards compatibility on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2017, and it was later ported to the Nintendo Switch by Live Wire in 2022 followed by a PC version that was released through Steam in 2023.
  • Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: Through Limited Run Games, a Collector's Edition for the Switch version was produced, which includes a physical copy of the game with a reversible cover art, a steelbook case with a complementary slip cover, a retro-styled box inspired by long box Sega Saturn releases, a CD soundtrack containing the original music and chiptune arrangements, a "BE ATTITUDE FOR GAINS" keychain, a pin set of the Merry dogs, and an acrylic diorama of Stage 6 "The Origin", all packaged in a commemorative Collector's Edition box.
  • No Export for You: Treasure didn't bother releasing this game overseas despite critical acclaim from foreign critics. This was first averted in 2011 with the internationally released Xbox 360 port, as a result, followed by later ports for the Switch and PC in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
  • Remade for the Export: The post-Sega Saturn versions of the game features High Definition visuals (such as true alpha blending implementation, something the Saturn couldn't handle), local/online Cooperative Multiplayer, online leaderboards with shareable replays, and an "Ikaruga Mode", using the scoring mechanics of its spiritual successor, accessed by unlocking an achievement within Ikaruga. This version would later serve as the basis of the Nintendo Switch re-release 11 years later and the Steam version the following year.
  • Saved by the Fans: This is the reason why the Steam port exists. After the release of the Switch port, LiveWire announced they had no plans to release the game on other platforms at the time, much like their other ports. This resulted in fans who waited years for a PC port constantly begging the company to release the game on Steam, which eventually happened in 2023.
  • What Could Have Been: A PlayStation port was planned, but the console could not handle the complex mixture of 2D and 3D visuals.
