Trivia / RRR (2022)

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: The Japanese dub has a surprising cast featuring many well-known Anime voice actors for all the leads, including Tomokazu Sugita (Bheem), Satoshi Hino (Ram), Akio Nojima (Scott Buxton), Maaya Uchida (Jenny), Yurika Kubo (Sita) and Azusa Tadokoro (Malli and young Ram)
  • California Doubling: While the Scenery Porn scenes rely entirely on being shot in India, scenes like the iconic Naatu Naatu were actually shot in Ukraine.
  • Irony as She Is Cast:
    • Both actors playing the Evil Colonialist British couple, Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody, are from Ireland, which has its own history with British colonialism.
    • Ram comes to see Bheem as a younger brother to him, which is how they address each other in the original audio - in real life, NTR Jr (Bheem) is older than Ram Charan (Ram).
  • Production Posse:
    • The story is by V. Vijayendra Prasad, who has worked with Director S. S. Rajamouli on several projects including Magadheera and Baahubali. Oh, and they're father and son.
    • M. M. Keeravani, S. S. Rajamouli's cousin has been the music composer on all his films.
    • K. K. Senthil Kumar was the cinematographer on several projects including Sye, Yamadonga, Magadheera, Baahubali...
    • Ram Charan was in Magadheera and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. starred in Rajamouli's first 2 movies Student No. 1 and Simhadri.
  • Playing Against Type: In the Japanese dub, and while not being the first time he had voiced such roles, Satoshi Hino as Ram is a departure on voicing young pretty boys, as Ram is middle-aged and moustached.
  • Permanent Placeholder: RRR started out as a working title, named for its director and its two lead actors (S.S. Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and N.T. Rama Rao Jr.). Rajamouli eventually decided to go with it as the official title, feeling that a film of this scale required a universal title. The expanded titles, in fact, vary for each language the movie is dubbed in, as per fan suggestions: Raudraṁ Raṇaṁ Rudhiraṁ in Telugu, Rattam Raṇam Rauttiram in Tamil, Raudra Raṇa Rudhira in Kannada, Rudhiram Raṇam Raudhram in Malayalam (all of which translate to "Rage, War, Blood") and Rise Roar Revolt in Hindi (which remains its international title).
  • What Could Have Been: Daisy Edgar-Jones was initially cast as Jenny, but dropped out of the project. The role eventually went to Olivia Morris.
