- After numerous Choices players complained about protagonists always being too goody-goody, and wanting to the chance to play a mean or evil character for once, Pixelberry promised that this book would allow them to "be as bad as they want to be". In the story itself, Bea's goal is to dethrone Poppy regardless, but the player can decide whether she is doing so for noble or selfish reasons.
- Originally, the book was going to be a VIP-exclusive book, but a few days before its release, Pixelberry changed their minds and announced that it would be available to everyone.
- Follow the Leader: The book is inspired by Mean Girls and Gossip Girl.
