• Approval of God: Although he didn't direct the film and had no say on casting choices, Charles Busch had nothing but praise for Lauren Ambrose's performance.
• Creator Backlash: Amy Adams wasn't too wild about her character, especially the scene in which she gets her bikini bottom ripped off (even though she knew it was important for her comeuppance).
• Dawson Casting: Lauren Ambrose was twenty-two playing sixteen.
• Descended Creator: Monica Stark was added into the movie for Charles Busch to play, as he felt he couldn't reprise his role from the original stage version ("while I can still manage, with the aid of a sympathetic cameraman, to play a sophisticated 25, 16 would be a stretch").
• Dyeing for Your Art: Amy Adams had to get a bikini wax for the scene where her bikini bottom comes off.
• Fake American: Kathleen Robertson (Rhonda) is Canadian.
• No Budget: The film was made for $1.5 million.
• One-Take Wonder: Due to budget restrictions, there was often only time for one or two takes of many scenes.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The title was originally 'Gidget Goes Psychotic', to make the connection to Gidget even more obvious. But it was changed due to concerns about copyright.
  • The scene in which the girl in the wheelchair's murder is discovered was supposed to feature Kanaka too, but Thomas Gibson was off shooting The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas at the time, so he had to be written out.
