• Dawson Casting: All of the actors playing main characters are significantly older than their characters, with most of the fifteen or sixteen-year-old Liars played by actresses who are twenty-two. Notably, Zaria and Alex Aiono are twenty-six and play Faran and Shawn.
• The Other Darrin: Eddie Lamb was played by Reggie Austin in the original series. Here he's played by Charles Gray.
• Playing Their Own Twin: Mallory Bechtel plays twins Karen and Kelly Beasley.
• Promoted Fangirl: Bailee Madison (Imogen), Zaria (Faran), Chandler Kinney (Tabby), Maia Reficco (Noa), and Mallory Bechtel (Karen and Kelly) were all big fans of Pretty Little Liars before being cast for the spin-off.
• Queer Character, Queer Actor:
  • Malia Pyles has stated that she's queer like Mouse.
  • Jordan Gonzalez is a trans man like his character Ash.
  • Noa is revealed to be bisexual like Maia Reficco in Summer School, having had romantic feelings for her juvie cellmate Jen who comes to Millwood for summer school.
• Separated-at-Birth Casting:
  • The young and adult actresses for Corey Bryant, Kristian Mosley, and Zakiya Young, respectively, look the most alike among the pairs of actresses for the mothers. More than that, Mosley does quite a good job imitating Young's voice texture, body language, and even her smile.
  • The same can also be said about the actresses who play both the younger and adult versions of Davie Adams, Ava DeMary, and Carly Pope, respectively.
• Wag the Director: Bailee Madison (Imogen) personally vouched for Aria and Ezra not to be the ones to adopt Imogen's baby, feeling it wasn't right given the problematic nature of the relationship.
• Word of God: The showrunners confirmed that Chip was killed by A in the season one finale.
