• Creator Killer: When the ''Portrait of Madame X' was put on display, it was met with critical panning, everyone proclaiming that it was nothing more than Fanservice and ending any hope he had of making it big as a fine-artist in France. While the painting itself was a passion project for Sargent, by the time he sold it to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he told the director that getting rid of it was "the best thing I have ever done."
