  • Follow the Leader: It's an open secret that Mythology Island was cashing in on the success of the Camp Half-Blood franchise. In fact, the island came out just two months after the first film did.
  • God Never Said That: On December 14th, 2023, in a Discord screenshot, a person impersonating the Poptropica team claimed that the game will shut down on December 29th that year due to financial issues, causing many who grew up with the game mourning over its loss. However, this was immediately debunked by the official Twitter account, which confirmed that they will remain active, even after that date, and that Poptropica "dropping" the membership subscriptions (which many also believed had ties to the shutdown hoax), was an intentional decision that was meant to last all month.
  • He Also Did: Another product of Jeff Kinney, and, really, what started as an educational kids' game is about as far as you could get from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Granted, he does include two islands based off his hit book.
  • Meaningful Release Date: S.O.S Island came out in 2012, which was the one hundredth anniversary of the Titanic sinking.
  • The Merch: There are real-life Poptropica plushies of various NPCs out there if you want to buy them.
  • Orphaned Reference: The revamped Mythology Island port removed you paying Aeolus for the wind bag (with him instead just giving it to you for free), yet his sign still says they cost a drachma.
  • Saved from Development Hell: Monster Carnival Island. It was originally meant to be the fourth island, but got removed because it wasn't finished in time. It took six years for the developers to actually make it a reality.
  • Schedule Slip: Monster Carnival Island was supposed to be the fourth island released before being replaced by 24 Carrot Island. It took several years before it actually came out.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Defied. A character from Shark Tooth Island nicknamed "Shark Boy" was used as Poptropica’s mascot until he was suddenly replaced with Dr. Hare. This is because "Shark Boy" was already trademarked, and the creators didn't want to risk a lawsuit. Later appearances refer to the character as "Shark Guy".
  • What Could Have Been:
    • El Mustachio Grande was meant to appear in Super Villain Island alongside the four featured villains.
    • On the topic of Super Villain, concept art shows that the totems were meant to assemble together.
