- Bad Export for You: As of January 2017, this is currently the only Pokémon movie not to be available on DVD in its original aspect ratio, at least in the United States. It is available on iTunes and Amazon in HD though.
- Missing Trailer Scene: One of the trailers involved scenes such as Kid apparently attempting to drive her jeep through the hot springs, Lucario going into some kind of alternate dimension, and a scene in a rocky area with Ash and Lucario. Ash is kneeling with a scared look on his face while reaching towards Lucario, who is lying on the ground, apparently dead from unknown causes.
- No Export for You: This movie has yet to be released in ex. The United Kingdom on DVD.
- Referenced by...: It took another 12 years before Ash would finally get something of the Riolu line in the mainline anime. In episode 21 of Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Ash was given a Riolu egg that reacted to his aura. It hatched later in the episode, and Ash was able to earn the resulting Riolu's trust. It later evolved into a Lucario itself.
- The Other Darrin: Mew is voiced by Satomi Koorogi instead of Koichi Yamdera.
