Trivia / Pokémon Brown and Prism

Go To

  • Contest Winner Cameo: Winners of a contest held on Facebook were given the opportunity to have cameos as AI-controlled trainers.
  • Creator Backlash: KoolBoyMan's hack prior to Pokémon Brown, Fukemon, never happened.
  • Dummied Out:
    • While Mewtwo exists in the game, the content it's a part of still hasn't been completed in any of the released builds yet, and thus it cannot be found anywhere ingame. So if you want it, you'll have to use cheat codes that make it appear.
    • Previous builds had the same problem with Zapdos, Mew, Snorlax (though some NPC trainers still had one), and Carnivine. The former two received proper events in version 0.95, and the same version also added wild encounters for Snorlax. The lattermost, on the other hand, ended up getting removed from the game entirely as of version 0.94, with Dusknoir taking its place.
  • He Also Did: Yes, KoolBoyMan is Newgrounds' very own Strawberry Clock.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: As stated in the main page, the Pokémon Prism project was backed into a legal corner. The author complied, and so there's no source to download the game from... officially, that is.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Several original moves in Prism were created by fans.
  • Streisand Effect: Happened with Prism. While the game was fairly known before, due to the quality of its predecessor Brown and thus the author's fame, the fact that it got hit with a C&D from Nintendo of America's lawyer company made its popularity skyrocket in less than a week! Oops!
  • Throw It In!: Wigglytuff gained Moonblast in 0.95 because of this trope. A player had discovered that multiple NPC Wigglytuffs had Moonblast in 0.94 despite Wigglytuff being unable to learn it in-game at the time. The Rainbow Devs decided to roll with it, partially because it would be easier than changing all the trainers' Wigglytuffs so that they didn't get Moonblast and also because Wigglytuff didn't have any reliable Fairy STAB (as Dazzling Gleam is not in Prism).
  • What Could Have Been: In an earlier build of Prism, the Eeveelutions had an original contribution by KoolBoyMan, Prismeon, that was scrapped by the 0.91 build. He got rid of Prismeon because Prismeon was too obvious a "Fakémon".
