- California Doubling: Originally to be shot in Manhattan and Long Island but moved to San Francisco when New York film workers went on strike in the summer of 1971.
- Completely Different Title: In Italy, the film is known as Try again, Sam, and Woody Allen's character was called "Sam" as it was feared Italian audiences wouldn't understand the Casablanca reference, even though the film is of course very popular in Italy, too.
