Trivia / Pet Sematary (2019)

Go To

  • Ashcan Copy: This film turned out to have been put into production because, under US copyright law, note  Stephen King would soon be able to reclaim the film rights to his novel Pet Sematary, and what's more, he had been aggressive about reclaiming the rights to other books of his once the time came. Paramount, therefore, wanted to wring something out of the rights while they still had them.
  • Making Use of the Twin: The Creeds' toddler son Gage is played by Hugo and Lucas Lavoie.
  • Meaningful Release Date:
    • The film was originally scheduled to be released on April 19, 2019, which would have been almost exactly 30 years after the release of the original film (April 21, 1989). However, it was later pushed forward to April 5, seemingly to mimic the successful release of A Quiet Place in early April the prior year. Regardless, the new adaptation was still released 30 years to the month after the original.
    • It's also released during the month of Easter, which is all about resurrection.
  • Never Work with Children or Animals: In a rare heartwarming sense as the filmmakers had to resort to using a CGI cat in a number of scenes because the cat actors playing Church absolutely loved Jason Clarke, and could not be made to look even the slightest bit mean or scary no matter how hard the cat wranglers on set tried.
