Trivia / Peep and the Big Wide World

Go To

  • Children Voicing Children: Peep and Chirp were voiced by kids. Peep was voiced by Scott Beaudin (2004-2007), Shawn Molko (2010) and Maxwell Uretsky (2011). Chirp was voiced by Amanda Soha, who was never replaced and ended up using a higher pitched voice for Chirp in the last two seasons, which some fans didn’t care for, feeling it took away a lot of Chirp’s character.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Tessa Marshall voices Beaver Boy.
  • International Coproduction: Between 9 Story Entertainment, TV Ontario and the National Film Board in Canada and WGBH Boston and Discovery Kids in the United States.
  • Screwed by the Network: Unsurprisingly, by RTM2 in Malaysia. The show wasn't given a consistent schedule, was frequently pre-empted for sporting events, and only one season was aired. It was later picked up by Discovery Kids Asia, except Discovery Kids Asia got screwed by its provider in Malaysia, who dropped the channel just three years after picking it up, with the excuse that it wasn't showing anything new or interesting...
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Chirp actually was originally male. Peep was also almost a female in the series; as he was referred to by female pronouns in the 1988 remake of the original short.
    • This demo reel shows that the series was originally going to be produced by Soup2Nuts, with an animation test even being made. However, the series went to 9 Story Entertainment instead due to budget reasons.
  • Working Title: If the name given to the animation test in the demo reel listed above is to be believed, the series was going to simply be called Peep!.
